Home Remedies for Bloating

woman with bloatingBloating is a common issue that affects both men and women alike and is caused by constipation or trapped gas. There are many different home remedies you can try to relieve yourself of the irritability caused by bloating. The following article advises you of the best home remedies in order to take care of the problem; and how to best avoid the recurrence of it.

Consume a diet high in fiber

Consuming a diet high in fiber easily eliminates both bloating problems–that is, constipation and trapped intestinal gas. Examples of high fiber foods include fresh fruits and vegetables; breads, pastas, and cereals made of whole grains. Adding the preceding foods to your daily meal menus assures you need not worry about the uncomfortable feeling that occurs when you are bloated.

Drink plenty of water or club soda

Drinking carbonated club soda is sure to cure any current bloating you are experiencing. The idea, whether the problem is constipation or trapped gas is to get the digested food moving along within your intestinal tract. The carbonation in club soda cures the problem of trapped gas. Drinking eight glasses of water daily assures you avoid problems with bloating in the future.

Walk and run two or three times around the block

Walking and running in combination is useful in relieving the irritability due to gas trapped inside the intestine. Run for a block and subsequently walk swiftly. Run again after several blocks of swift walking for another block or two and then once again resume a swift walking gait. Generally, after several minutes this activity takes care of any bloating due to gas.

Assume a yoga style stance

Lay on your back and fold your knees up to your chest. Hold your knees there to a count of twenty to fifty. If you can so manage count to one-hundred. Also, rolling from side-to-side when you are counting is more effective than merely holding your knees up to the chest area. The more rolling repetitions you can perform, up to a count of one-hundred, the more likely you will have success in getting rid of the bloating you are experiencing.

Drink chamomile tea

Drinking tea such as chamomile tea before bedtime has a relaxing effect on the body. Brew some tea up prior to bedtime to get rid of the persistent bloating; or to avoid future problems with bloat. Also, if you are out of chamomile tea, peppermint herb tea is also useful in soothing a nervous or irritated stomach.

Additional Tips

Foods that are high in soluble fiber are good for constipation. Examples of soluble fibers include fresh fruits such as apples; seeds, and cereals such as oatmeal and barley.

Exercise is also useful in avoiding situations where bloating presents a problem. Make certain you walk or run for at least thirty to forty-five minutes per day. The exercise will prevent bloating and is also good for cardiovascular health meaning your heart and how your body takes in oxygen.

Fresh fruits are always preferred over fruit juices in order to avoid problems with bloating. This is because such foods, again, are a source of soluble fiber.
